One of my greatest joys as a parent is soaking in how my boys grow, learn, and discover. Whether it’s complete fascination with a bird fluttering by or when my toddler shows early signs of literacy development by asking “what does that sign say, mommy?” These simple moments exemplify the beauty of education.
As an educator turned stay-at-home-mom, education is near and dear to my heart. We have dreams for our children and education is the track for them to get there. Education is one thing that no one can ever take away from you. And fostering a love for learning in the home is just the beginning of what will hopefully be a lifelong love for learning.
That’s why I’m sharing the Box Tops for education initiative. Funding for schools can a make a world of difference. As we gear up for back to school, Walmart is the place I’ll shop for our back-to-school snacks. We can directly give back to our community five-fold just by purchasing qualifying products that kids love anyways. Simply look for the Box Tops label when you shop General Mills products at Walmart. Your school will receive $.10 for every box top you clip and send! In addition to the $0.10 per Box Top, you earn 4 more ($.50)!
It’s this simple: shop, clip, send, and earn!
We made a shopping trip to our local Walmart recently and picked out some of our favorite everyday snacks, which just so happen to be perfect to pack in school lunch boxes as well.
From my perspective as a teacher, I saw the benefits to having enough computers or tablets for children to learn via technology. I saw the benefits to having shelves stocked with engaging books and the benefits to having enough consumable supplies so a child didn’t have to worry when they forgot their pencil at home. Schools need the right tools to be effective and to foster a positive learning environment. Think of the creativity that can happen when a classroom has enough supplies to share.
So this school year, I encourage you to shop with Box Tops in mind. Pick up those favorite back to school snacks and clip those Box Tops to send to school to purchase necessary supplies.
I don’t hear any complaints around our household when I purchase Box Tops friendly products! :)
Although, my boys are not in elementary school yet, we still collect. There are enough neighbor kids to send our Box Tops with or I send them with my mother-in-law who works in a school. Supporting our schools is important to our family. And when it’s as simple as shopping at Walmart for General Mill’s products to clip, send, and earn – we just can’t pass up that opportunity!
