A family calendar app helps keep a family in sync and organized. It helps coordinate and communicate everyone’s schedules and activities, track grocery lists, manage to do lists, plan ahead for dinner, and keep the whole family on the same page.

Why Do We Need a Family Calendar App?

Whether you are a family of two or many, it can be tough to stay organized and keep track of appointments, school committments, games, practices, work schedules, etc. It’s time to upgrade your family organization strategy with technology.

It would be great to remember everything – when kids have a school event, what time you need to be at soccer, what day grandma arrives, when a doctor appointment is, etc. But, if you’re anything like me, you have to write it all down or you forget. If you don’t want your kids to sulk because you forgot to send in the class snack, you need to get a family schedule app. Not only will they help to schedule all activities but it also aids in creating to-do and shopping lists, keeping your favorite recipes at hand, sharing events with other family members, and much more.

Would you enjoy the convenience of entering something once (birthdays that occur every year, preschool every Tuesday and Thursday) and have it automatically repeat for you so you don’t have to enter it over and over AND it’s shared with whoever needs access to your schedule.

How the Cozi App Works for our Family

The problem we were running into is keeping all on the same page when it came to commitments and shopping lists. Have you ever gotten to the store and knew there was something that you ran out of but you couldn’t remember? Well, that was happening all the time around here. Or I’d get a chance to pop by Walmart on a whim and text my husband to ask him if there was anything he needed and either he couldn’t remember or he was busy and couldn’t text back. So we had to come up with a plan. There are certain things we buy from certain stores so now a shared family calendar app helps us both stay on the same page.

The other problem we were having was scheduling appointments between my husband and I and staying on the same page and actually remembering each other’s schedules. I was keeping dates on my iPhone calendar but that doesn’t sync to his calendar. It was frustrating to keep repeating and reminding all the time so I started looking for a solution.

That’s when we started using the Cozi app about 6 months ago. My husband is resistant to change and honestly, he’s not all that tech savvy so this was a big change for us but it was a big step in a positive direction!

This shared family calendar app will obviously only simplify life if the family uses it. We keep it as simple as possible and log all of our dates on the calendar as soon as we get something scheduled. If I talk to a family member about coming over for dinner on Saturday, I log it on the Cozi calendar and then my hubby knows the Saturday plan. When he schedules a doctor’s appointment, he puts it on the calendar app so I’m not planning on him to watch Little E when he won’t be home.

We also use it extensively for the list function – store lists, to-do lists, vacation packing lists. We have a list for everything. But guess what? Next time, I go on vacation I scroll through the last list we created to brainstorm the basics for the next trip. I can just “uncheck” the item and it pops right back on the list. The same goes for my Costco list, Walmart list, etc. It is so helpful to keep up with the groceries or household items. If I empty the bottle of hand soap, I know to add it to the list right away so I don’t forget next time I’m at the store. Same goes for my husband. If he uses the last roll of paper towels, it gets added to the list. It works really well for us!
