See below how the same two white lanterns can be styled different ways for holiday celebrations or you could also style these bronze lanterns the same way! You can use any festive fillers such as pinecones, sisal trees, ornaments, and lights to style your own DIY Christmas lantern decorations.

Create a Scene in the Christmas Lantern

Create a scene inside your lantern by including holiday elements like snow, pinecones, your favorite ornament, or sisal trees can create the feel you are looking for. I’m planning to use one of the lanterns below after Christmas for a wintery lantern that will be perfect past the holiday.

Use Lights Inside the Christmas Lantern

If you wish for a flame-free lantern this Christmas, then why not use LED string lights to illuminate your mantle or a specific area of your living room with this lantern. You don’t need to light your candle just to have a lantern at home, especially if you will have this decor indoors. A beautiful and colorful holiday lantern can give your living room, dining table, entryway or porch a warm welcome and ambiance in your home.

Look around for a moment and imagine this: instead of harsh fluorescent bulbs or a dull overhead light, your room is illuminated by the joy of lanterns. Each lantern hums with a warm glow. Christmas lanterns are versatile and the same lantern can be styled for any event or season. A few lanterns, LED string lights, a pinecone votive, sisal trees and a wood centerpiece can create your own DIY Christmas lantern decorations.

I love lanterns! They are so versatile. We have a ton of pinecones where we live and I’ve been dreaming about spray painting some with glitter paint and stuffing them inside a lantern.

That would be absolutely stunning, Tiffany! I have the red ornaments now inside the lanterns and plan to switch to pinecones in January for a “winter” feel! :)
