A big thank you to Kings Dominion for providing my family with tickets to visit the park. No additional compensation received. All other expenses covered by me. All opinions are my own.
Kings Dominion is a great family-friendly amusement park and it’s just a quick drive for us Washington, DC area families! This is one of our family stops every summer where everyone has a good time. Our day was packed from start to finish from the amusement park rides to the water park!
A Family-Friendly Amusement Park
A Warm Welcome
As we entered the gate, the boys spotted Lucy, the infamous Peanuts™ character. They were both so tickled that they had to hop right out of the stroller. They ran over to Lucy for a big hug and a couple high-fives!
Our first stop was to check both boy’s height. This height check station is in a convenient location and then once the boys had their wrist bands, there were no questions about which rides they were tall enough to ride.
Then, we made our way to Planet Snoopy. The boys were excited to enter the Peanuts™ themed section filled with rides and character monuments. Planet Snoopy is a family fun favorite at Kings Dominion.
The Great Pumpkin Coaster was one of our first rides to hop on. The turns and dips on this junior steel roller coaster offer just the perfect amount of thrill and excitement! Both boys wanted to ride again!
Snoopy’s Space Buggies is another favorite. The boys call it the “up, up, up” ride but they are all smiles as they bounce their way to the moon!
As we all know when we go somewhere with our children, sometimes it’s the smallest conveniences that make all the difference. We noticed restrooms were clean and we even passed by a family restroom that made washing hands and getting the boys ready to go home so much easier. There was ample shade, benches, drink stations, and convenient food options located throughout this family-friendly amusement park.
We found lots of places to stand in the shade either while we were taking a drink break or while one or the other was riding on rides. It was really nice to get out of the sun on such a hot day.
Kings Dominion offers the All Season Souvenir Bottle which grants you drink refills all season. We thought this was a great purchase especially since we happened to go to the park one of the hottest days. We filled it all day with water just to stay hydrated but the conveniently located drink refill stations make it easy to stay hydrated with an assortment of beverage options. The cup comes with a nice lid that has a carrying strap as well. The boys just preferred to drink with their own straws. ;) You can check out more about the drink plans here.
Beautiful spaces for photos
The boys were waaaay too busy to stop for many photos but we did sneak in a few with some of the lovely fountains.
Soak City offered the refreshment we needed with water rides, a lazy river, a wave pool, fountains and water climbing stations. The layout of the water park allows a lot of cooling options without the lines. I was happy to see that Kings Dominion keeps safety a priority and life jackets are available for use. We enjoyed the slides at the Soak City Splash House and the beach experience of Big Wave Bay!
Until next time…
After such a fun filled day, it was time to say goodbye. And what better way to say goodbye than a big hug with all of your favorite Peanuts™ pals! The boys were fast asleep once we got settled into the car. They enjoyed all of the excitement and they are already asking when we can go again!
