Our family moving adventure update
Things have been moving so quickly and I just can’t wait to fill you in on some of the details about our moving adventure as a family. It has been a busy few months but we finally see the end in sight.
Just like I promised, I would be sharing more and more in my new Lovely Home Series about our process of selling our home and buying a new home. So in case you missed it, I recently shared about beginning the home-buying process as a family in this post. I shared a few sneak peeks of our visit to the homesite through Instastories – so if you’re not following, please do! I love to mini blog through Instagram. :)
For a quick update, here we are now, selling our current home that we’ve lived in for almost 9 years. We are buying our new home about 30 miles south of our current city.
I was hesitant to reveal details too early (even though this has been unfolding since about May) because it started as JUST a dream. We were convinced that we would be here forever since our home value took a hit when the market tanked in 2008. Many variables had to fall into place for this to happen, so we just took it one step at a time.
Have you ever waited for something and then it starts happening but you’re afraid to share because you aren’t even convinced it’s happening? Well, that’s exactly how I’ve felt, I just keep thinking “I must be dreaming!“
Our New Home
We signed a contract for our new home and below is our lot! It was quite a decision to committing to buying a home but here’s what sealed the deal. We could really picture this as our family home! We have an appreciation for the location of this home – it’s on a cul-de-sac, we love the trees behind our house, we will have a yard for the boys and we are close to family.
We looked and looked but we found the one!
So what’s happening with our condo
We have a solid contract, we’ve had the inspection, and we have a closing date scheduled in 2 weeks. We have our fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly until then.
We’ve started packing, organizing, loading, and hauling off boxes to storage. It’s totally bittersweet! I think about all the memories we’ve had here as a family and realize we will close the door to this empty house in a few short weeks.
My youngest has no clue what’s really going on and just happily turns all of our moving boxes into his personal choo-choo train. Our (almost) 4-year-old is excited but he also has his but I love this house and I don’t wanna move moments.
When we close the doors here, we have a 4-5 week transition period before our new home will be built. The boys are super excited that we get to move in with grandpa and grandma until our new home is finished! We’ve had a lot to juggle with prepping, showing, selling, and moving so it will be nice to just settle in and have some downtime before moving into the new house. We will have time to explore our new city and find those kid-friendly spots!
So this is where we stand at the moment! I will share about our process of house-hunting, showing a home, and buying a home as a family in some future posts. I will, of course, continue to provide some new house updates as well and share snippets on Instagram.
Thank you for being a part of our new home journey! Flexibility has been key these last few months but I’m super excited to see how everything turns out.
