Have you been beach bound yet this year? I’m sure you’ve picked up some seashells along the way if your kids are anything like mine. My boys love to collect just about anything – rocks, sticks, flowers, and seashells are just a few of the treasures they find on our outdoor adventures! Painting seashells is just one of the fun activities kids can enjoy with their treasured shell collection.
The materials are very basic for this painting seashells activity!
- table cloth
The boys picked about 7-8 small seashells out of our collection that I keep stored in a large storage bag. I placed a cup of water on the table for them to clean the brush before switching colors. And, I just used paper towels this time underneath their workspaces but usually, I use a plastic tablecloth.
They got to work painting seashells and using their creativity to mix colors!
One of the best parts of painting seashells was that they gifted me with one of their treasures when they finished. The shells they painted are now on my nightstand and it makes me smile every time I see them sitting there. This was a simple and successful art project for them and they were mostly able to do it independently.
