Simple Tips to Stay Healthy as a Busy Mom

The season of germs is here and as a parent, it’s definitely important that we do our best to stay healthy. We have an important job and we have to be proactive about keeping healthy so we can take care of those we love the most. Choosing a healthy life is important and has been important to me for a long time. I’ve been through the trenches as a mother when I’ve given so much that I’ve absolutely exhausted myself mentally and physically. I wanted to share these simple tips to stay healthy as a busy mom.

Simple Tips to Stay Healthy as a Busy Mom

Get Moving

It’s not always easy to make time for exercise but my best tip is to get moving in a way that works for your schedule and your lifestyle. This has looked differently for me over the years since I’ve had children. I’ve done everything from taking walks with the boys, to exercise DVDs at home, to a gym membership. Whether you park your car further away from your destination or you take the stairs, try to boost your movement in a day!

Eat Healthy Snacks

Taking care of yourself can be as simple as making sure you eat well. When we invest so much time into feeding our kiddos, sometimes we forget to focus on our own nutrition. I know how it goes but eating their leftover chicken nuggets or crackers isn’t fueling our own bodies. Fill up a bowl of fruit and share with the kids or grab a snack loaded with protein to keep your body energized. Include foods with protein, such as yogurt, cheese, cottage cheese, eggs, poultry, fish, lean meat and beans, in every meal. This is not the time to shortchange your body if you want to have the energy to take care of your kids.

Keep Kleenex on Hand

As a mom, you really don’t have time to be sick. But when you are, it’s nice to know you have options that help you feel better.

I try my best to stay on top of my health and be well so that I can positively impact those around me. Kleenex are best to keep on hand all the time and not just when we’re sick! Put a box in the rooms you spend a lot of time for convenience. If you don’t want to load the kiddos into the car and go shopping, take advantage of Walmart’s two-day shipping option! It’s been so convenient to keep our healthy essentials on hand.

As I mentioned above, Kleenex is a staple for anyone to have around during cold season but it really is great to keep a few extra boxes around all year long!  Kleenex kills 99.9% of cold and flu viruses in the tissue, so it will actually help stop the spread of germs. The active ingredients in the middle layer disrupt the viruses’ protective coating and kill 99.9% of cold and flu viruses in the tissue within 15 minutes. My boys tend to get runny noses, so I love having these soft tissues on hand to wipe their nose and face. They are also great to have around during allergy season for watery eyes.

As a mom, we are always busy and by trying to do it all, we tend to forget about ourselves. Thanks for sharing those great tips.

Moms definitely forget about taking care of themselves. I am guilty of this for sure. I often share healthy snacks with my son just so I know we are both eating something nutritious.
