HOW TO ORGANIZE WITH STORAGE BINS

I know so many of you share my love of storage containers and love to get organized, so I will link to many of my favorite types and how I use them in case you have in upcoming organization projects planned. Here are the types of storage bins I use most often:

Latchmate Storage Box with tray– These are the storage bins I’m excited to share today! They feature a removable tray for smaller accessories and the latching lid with a carrying handle makes it easy to move the containers around the home. My boys can easily carry the bins from one room to another. These storage boxes come in these colors (mint, blush, and white) and I purchased the 14.5 qt. size. Often times they are on sale and it makes it really simple to purchase online and pick up in the store if you want. I use these smaller containers inside the Latchmate bins to further organize.

Y-weave baskets – I love these y-weave baskets for our closet organization including extra toiletries, beauty, and bathroom products. We like to buy toothpaste, mouthwash, floss, soap, deodorant in bulk and I always like to take it out of the packaging when we get home and organize them. These smaller Y-weave baskets are perfect for smaller items.

Fabric bins – These fabric bins have served us well over the years for keeping things organized and hiding the clutter. I’ve also recently purchased this set of 6 storage bins for a very affordable price to use in my office.

Plastic storage tubs – When we need to store larger items, like holiday decor, we always reach for the larger storage tubs. These tubs are great because they keep items dust-free when stored in our garage or basement. We also use them for some of the boys’ larger toys sets such as car tracks or their train track sets. I also like these smaller containers for all of the miscellaneous toys. I’ll keep a storage container for their cars, action figures, etc.

Ideas for Storage Bin Organization for Kids

These are a few ways that we have been using these Latchmate Storage Bins for kids’ things in our house.

Holiday Gifts – I used this as a way to gift my sons a Valentine’s Day gift. It was perfect for some arts and crafts activities and a few small toys.

Baby Shower Gift – This is a great way to gift the mom-to-be with a few items from her registry. There is space for a couple of outfits, bibs, burp cloths, no-scratch hand mittens, diapers, baby bath products. It just makes a cute “catch-all” storage bin gift box.

Learning Resources – I keep my son’s preschool materials that we are working on at home in this kit. The top has his reading finger, gluestick, dry erase crayons, pencil, and a pencil sharpener. My older son has one with his art supplies in it.

Baby Essentials – I put a pink storage bin kit together for our baby on the way. I will keep it in our living room for convenient diaper storage. I have diapers in the bottom and the other essentials such as diaper cream, wipes, nail clippers, and an extra outfit.

Sensory Bin – These make the perfect sensory bins. The top containers are a great way to sort the sensory items and the bottom is the perfect tray for the sensory material (rice, beans, playdoh, etc.)

Legos Storage Container – A great storage bin for lego organization and even makes it convenient to take on-the-go.

On-The-Go Car Kit – This storage bin doesn’t take up too much room in the trunk if you want to use it for essentials. These are great to keep if you are heading to baseball games in the spring to keep the younger kids entertained. Put magnatiles in one, building blocks, arts and crafts materials. I also thought to keep the baby changing essentials storage bin in the car as a backup. You never know when you will get out and about and need diapers or change of clothes.

First Aid Kit – Keep your storage container in a convenient place in the home or the car for convenient first aid supplies. Toss in some bandaids of various sizes, an antiseptic spray, antibiotic ointment, children’s fever reducer, plastic gloves, an instant cold compress, and tweezers.

Play-doh Storage Container – This is a great way to keep all of the play-doh supplies together. I can easily change up what toys they have in their container to keep it fresh and new.
