Every mama has a story to tell about surviving toddlerhood mealtime, right? Well, my youngest son was eager to make the transition to eating what he always saw big brother eating. He was getting curious and always reaching for what the family was eating. But, this mama right here wanted to hold on to knowing what nutrients this little guy was getting.
Toddlerhood is such a big step for our little ones (and for mama, too!) We are certain what nutrients they are receiving when they are getting their nutrients exclusively from breast milk or formula. And then, the adventures with table food begin. Little E pretty much refused eating anything unless we called it a “cracker” for the longest time and now although he skeptically tries different foods, he still lets us know who’s in charge of what goes in his tummy.
We’ve been up and down on a roller coaster at mealtime but knowing from the experience with our first, we try not to worry too much but instead realize this is simply part of development. Whether it’s throwing food, smearing food, skipping the veggies, or transitioning to the “me do” phase – which is the phase we are in right now, it’s all part of surviving toddlerhood mealtime.
And, as much as I want to help feed him so that more ends up in his tummy than on the floor or in his hair…he resists my help. He wants to try on his own and of course, that’s a development worth celebrating. So I snap those photos when he’s using his spoon and smearing food across his face…and it’s very likely mama is wiping away the tears as her baby shows just a little more independence, as well.
With all of these adventures in toddlerhood eating, I was left wondering how I could be certain Little E was getting the nutrients he needed when mealtime was hardly ever going as planned, which is why we started using Gerber’s new Stage 3 Gerber® Good Start® Grow Toddler Drink.
This drink is specifically designed for toddlers 12-24 months and it has essential nutrients to help fill common nutrient gaps that many toddlers experience as well as probiotics to support digestive health. His toddler drink nourishes his little tummy so he can focus on what makes him happy and mama, too – reaching new milestones and his growing independence.
And we couldn’t end without sharing a photo with typical toddler antics. Everyone should balance their sippy on top of their fave Gerber® Good Start® Grow Toddler Drink canister!
