Have you heard people say before that there just aren’t cute clothes for boys? Well, after more than 3 years of buying for boys, I can understand where that saying comes from but I disagree.
Don’t get me wrong, it never fails that when I’m shopping for my boys I usually see way more stuff for girls and the frills and ruffles on the tushy make me say awww every.single.time but that doesn’t mean there isn’t cute stuff for boys. I mean kids’ clothes, in general, are just pretty dang adorable if you ask me. And today I’m sharing my best tips for coordinating sibling outfits.
Here’s the truth – I actually have no problems with a few twinsie outfits every once in awhile either! It makes for super cute pictures and I’m pretty sure I won’t be able to get away with it forever. With my boys being almost exactly two years apart, it can be a little tricky because my little one is in the “baby” sizes and my older one is in “toddler” sizes.
I love affordable, wash and wear, cute clothes for my boys. Our everyday clothes consist of mostly play clothes and I keep a handful of outfits that coordinate for the more special occasions. Little E wears mostly hand me downs from big brother.
A few ideas for coordinating sibling outfits:
- Similar color scheme but different patterns.
- Same shirt in different colors.
- Identical shirts.
- Big/Little sibling shirts (big brother and little brother)
Similar Color Scheme, Different Patterns
This was a planned coordinated look for a mini photography session. The boys have a matching pair of khaki pants and these two Gymboree shirts coordinated beautifully although different patterns.
This was just a play day but the boys both wore red and black which made for cute impromptu photo captures on our journey through the park.
I’ll admit since I have two boys it’s really easy to coordinate colors since so much of their wardrobe is in shades of blue. I would assume with two girls it would also be pretty easy. With opposite genders, there may be less selection of the same colors unless it’s neutrals.
The boys wore the exact same top but different pants to a recent birthday party. These are Garanimal shirts from Walmart – super soft, inexpensive, and fun to get a little twinsie photo.
Here’s another example of matching sibling wear, coordinated for our mini photo shoot! Same white t-shirts and matching shorts from Gymboree! I get really excited to find sibling coordinating outfits from the sale racks.
So what are your thoughts? Is sibling coordinated wear your style or do you prefer complete outfit individuality?
