This week my positive focus will be on the importance of compliments.
Sincere words and caring messages often get lost in the shuffle of conversations. Understandably, we are focused on our agenda or the bottom line and the last thing we are thinking about is offering a compliment. I’m at fault. My husband and I get very little communication time with his long work hours and the interruptions from our two little ones so our conversations tend to be to the point with little fluff in between. Or when at the checkout and I’m fumbling for my credit card with little hands touching everything in sight – I greet the cashier but don’t say much more. A genuine compliment acknowledges the positive about someone. What a powerful way to express gratitude and to show we care.
So for this week’s Monday Mantra, I will remember this quote, “Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.” – Leo Buscaglia.
With our busy lives, it is all the more important to take time to foster positive relationships. In the past, I’ve noticed these small actions can really have big impacts. My mission this week is to give sincere compliments. In turn, I will remember the importance to graciously receive compliments as well.
This week I challenge you to compliment 5 people a day, acknowledge the positive about them, be genuine. Will you accept the compliment challenge? Post a comment about your experience.
Wishing you a happy week!
