Life has been so hectic lately and I have so much to share but just haven’t had the time to write. If you follow along on Instagram then maybe you saw that we went on a mini vacation. We traveled about 2 hours away to Shenandoah Crossing in a the midst of the rolling hills of Virginia. It’s a resort nestled into the countryside that is a perfect combination of resort life and nature. It was totally a last minute decision but so totally worth it!
The amenities of the resort are amazing. Everything from a lake for fishing and boat outings, to hiking, biking, and horseback riding. For the kids, the amenities make life easy for the parents – from miniature golf, to playground play, a game room and swimming pools for splashing.
We were the vacation party crashers! *wink, wink* We were actually invited to come when my parents booked a last minute stay. And when we were invited, we jumped at the invitation. The boys got some quality time with grandma and grandpa and we enjoyed soaking in some distraction-free family time. It was a cute, two bedroom cabin, nestled in the trees, and we actually spent very little time inside with all of the outdoors activities to do.
As you will see from our photos, our stay may have been short and even with cloudy skies most of our trip, we couldn’t have squeezed much more in. The boys had a blast and kept us busy as they excitedly jumped from one activity to the next.
Animal Life at Shenandoah Crossing
One of the absolute highlights of our mini vacation to Shenandoah Crossing was the opportunity to expose the boys to the horses. They l o v e d them! So much so that even if we were heading to the cabin from the pool and we saw them at the fence, we stopped to visit them.
Both boys enjoyed a pony ride. We couldn’t believe this little guy decided to ride – he’s our shy child and always a bit hesitant. But, he had a couple days of observing the horses from afar and he is a total animal lover. Of course, he waited until big brother went first and he saw it was safe to try. ;)

Exploring the Lake at Shenandoah Crossing
The boys enjoyed their first pontoon boat ride around the lake!
This was definitely a family friendly environment. We loved that it wasn’t too far from home which makes it easier to visit again. Goodbye, Shenandoah Crossing, until we see you again!
