Being prepared helps so much as a parent. The diaper bag can be prepped before your little one’s arrival so that it’s one less worry for those first doctor’s appointments and departures from the house. Of course, diaper bag essentials change with baby’s development but some of the essentials stay the same. Here are some tips on what to keep in your diaper bag.
What to Keep in Your Diaper Bag
I usually keep at least 4-5 diapers so I don’t always have to worry about restocking our supply after every outing. Remember that number might change depending on how long you might be out of the house and little ones need more changes than older babies.
A changing mat always makes me feel better about changing a baby in public places. It’s easy to wipe down after use and fold up for the next time.
We currently have this NYME Bum Glaze in our diaper bag. It’s a good idea to keep a diaper cream just in case you see baby’s bum irritated and you can soothe their skin right away.
Set of Clothes
An extra set of clothes for each kiddo is a great idea. It might seem like you don’t need them for a long stretch at a time but when those accidents happen, it’s always a relief to know you have a change of clothes!
We keep a couple small toys in the diaper bag and usually a book or two as well. As I’ve shared before, we often keep a separate bag for toddler on-the-go entertainment
We recently discovered WaterWipes and fell in love with them because they are chemical free! They contain only two ingredients, 99.9% pure Irish water and 0.1% grapefruit seed extract. They are extremely durable and effective without containing those harmful chemicals that may be in other wipes, WaterWipes proves a safer, natural option for your little one.
We use them all the time when we’re out and about:
- After a snack, I reach for the WaterWipes for quick cleanup.
- When we are finished at the playground or return back to the car after getting groceries, I wipe their hands.
- For spills with snacks and drinks, WaterWipes work great for cleaning up kids, car seats, and floors!
- When the kids get dirty while you’re out and about, WaterWipes are great for cleaning up quick, too!
I took my little shopping buddy to Walgreens and we stocked up on our WaterWipes.
So this is what we keep in a baby diaper bag as the everyday essentials. Of course, there are always extra items I’m tossing in depending on where we are going and for how long. Other essentials might be a sunhat, sunscreen, or snacks. Snacks and sippy cups usually get tossed in nearly every time we head out but I grab those before we go.
