Every once in awhile, mama needs a time-out. Let’s face it, the demands on us mothers can weigh heavily on our minds and hearts. There is always a list of things to do and there’s always a calendar of events scheduled. Whether it’s the everyday household duties of preparing meals, washing clothes, running errands, working, the day-to-day caring for our children or the schedule of doctor’s appointments, sporting events, birthday parties and I’m sure as you know the list could go on.
What I’ve realized is mama needs a time-out at least once every.single.day. We need time to reflect, to breathe, to reset. It’s essential we take time for ourselves because we need to be able to give from a full cup. When we acknowledge our own needs and nourish ourselves, we are more able to help nourish those around us.
So how does mama take a time-out when the demands already outweigh the time available? My best suggestion is to carve out that time, even if it’s only 15 minutes. We need to make our mommy break a priority just like we prioritize everything else. This might be a few minutes on a lunch break, a few minutes when the kids are napping, a few minutes in the morning before the household awakens or even once everyone is in bed.
Then, ask yourself. What makes me feel rejuvenated? It’s important to make your “mama time” matter.
Maybe during that time, you need to rejuvenate your mind and heart with time for an inspirational reading. Maybe it’s time to watch your favorite show or a conversation with a friend. Maybe during that time, you simply want to sit with the quiet and stillness and do nothing at all. Trust me, I’ve reached that point and sometimes I physically feel like I need the quiet.
My favorite way to enjoy my mama time-out these days is with a hot TAZO® Chai Latte brewed quickly and easily with TAZO® Chai Latte K-Cup® pods. Unbelievably with every sip, it’s the perfect rich, creamy taste providing the perfect blend of sweet and spicy.
I actually start relaxing the moment I smell my drink brewing. I embrace my cup and just relax as I savor the sweet cinnamon, fragrant cardamom, and spicy ginger flavors. My quiet time combined with a TAZO® Chai Latte equals pure bliss. I feel invigorated just giving myself those few minutes to relax and sip on a warm cup of tea.
The new TAZO® Chai Latte K-Cup® pods allow you to explore a world of flavor from the comfort of your home. They are made from milk, tea leaves and spices. It’s a creamy blend of black tea, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom and vanilla flavor. I was really surprised how a two-step process with the help of some hot brewed water from the Keurig® recreates flavors which have been deeply rooted in Indian history for thousands of years.
In fact, I learned that TAZO® partnered with the New York Times Bestselling author and host Padma Lakshmi to celebrate the release of the new K-Cup® pods. You can learn more at http://TAZO.com/chai. Tea and chai have always been a part of Padma Lakshmi’s life and family heritage and she’s excited to celebrate the flavors of chai with TAZO®. Padma Lakshmi developed recipes that pair perfectly with a cup of chai and you can find them by visiting TAZO.com/chai/pairings.
Now that I started scheduling my time-out as part of the day, I really look forward to that time. As a busy mama, I stay busy almost all day and try to multi-task to the max to keep up with everything. Now, I sincerely look forward to a few uninterrupted moments to savor my tea and enjoy a simple pleasure. Sometimes, it’s sipping my cup of tea in the bed first thing in the morning with a devotional and sometimes it’s a cup of tea when both boys are down for a nap. This is the time I devote to myself and it really has helped me to keep life in perspective.
When mama needs a time-out, what’s your favorite way to give yourself a break? Do you make at least a little bit of time for yourself every day?
